How do you
capture the essence of an experience? How do you put into
words feelings your heart and head cannot quite comprehend?
With this understanding I will attempt to tell you how the
Blue House Effect and its work in the DR has touched my
life.
To hear the laugh of an orphaned child as
they play, forgetting all other things and just being a
kid. To feel the excitement as a mother realizes her
children now have a safe, dry, comfortable place to live.
To sit with a group of women and to hear their stories of
family and children, as they struggle to provide what they
can. To realize that you can make an impact by engaging
people, by hearing stories, by providing needed tools be it
financial, social or institutional. To realize you have
clearly received as much if not more from the experience
then anyone you have interacted with. And to pay it forward
for the privilege of what you have learned.
